The futures trading journal built around your prop firm’s rules

PassTraq is a futures trading journal for prop firm traders: trades sync from Rithmic or import from six platforms, each day gets a plan and a review, and at 17:00 CT the day is graded on the rules you set, never on money made. Free on Starter, forever.

One trading day in your futures trading journal

The journal follows the CME trading day, 17:00 CT to 17:00 CT: a plan, the trades, the reviews, then a grade at the roll on your rules. One day, moment by moment:

Illustration — one trading day of a 50K evaluation, trades from a Tradovate CSV. Plan, reviews and grade: Starter; Analyst: Trader and up; replay: Pro and up. Numbers invented; the rule check is what PassTraq's grader returns for them.
  1. 07:30 CT

Write the plan before the open

Set your bias, max trades and risk per trade. The 17:00 CT grade counts your trades against that max.

  2. 08:47 CT

Your trades arrive on their own

Rithmic fills sync; anything else imports from a CSV. R comes from the stop on record; with none, it reads “—”.

  3. 12:12 CTReplay · Pro and up

Review the trade that broke the plan

Rate it, tag it, name the mistake and how you felt, and tick its playbook's checklist. On Pro and up, Replay opens it in bar replay at the entry.

  4. 15:10 CT

Close the session with a review

Grade the session A to F, say whether you kept to the plan, and name one thing to cut tomorrow. Save it before 17:00 CT, or the review rule reads as broken.

  5. 17:00 CT

The day is graded on your rules

At the roll the day is checked against your rules, never money made. This day finished +$112.50 and kept 4 of 6: it broke “Playbook setups only” and “No more trades than planned”.

  6. Across your daysAnalyst · Trader and up

See the pattern, with its sample size

The P&L calendar and equity curve are on Starter. On Trader and up, ask which playbook pays: the answer shows the trades behind each number and each win rate's 95% range.

All of it is on Starter, free.

Trades in, trades out

How trades get into your trading journal

Three ways in, on every plan: Rithmic sync, CSV import, or a trade logged by hand. Everything goes back out as a CSV export, also on every plan.

Rithmic sync

Connect your firm's Rithmic login and fills land as trades, paired entry to exit. Apex Trader Funding and AMP Futures sync today.

CSV import

Tradovate, Sierra Chart, NinjaTrader, MetaTrader 4/5, TradeStation and TopstepX exports are recognised from the header; others import when their columns are recognisable. A bad row is refused with its reason, never imported as $0; duplicates are skipped.

Manual entry

Symbol, side, prices, size, times and commission. Add the risk amount and R is worked out from it.

Rithmic beta: Lucid Trading, Tradeify, Bulenox, Earn2Trade, Legends Trading Group, The Trading Pit, GOAT Funded Futures, DayTraders.com, BluSky Trading, Take Profit Trader, Elite Trader Funding, Phidias Propfirm, UProfit and Leeloo Trading; the first login shows whether Rithmic has enabled PassTraq. Not connectable yet: Topstep, MyFundedFutures, FTMO, The5%ers, E8 Markets, TradeDay and Funded Futures. Every firm's rulebook: prop firm rules.

No account yet? Eval Autopsy replays a broker export through every firm's evaluation rules.

Plan and review · Starter

The daily journal: a plan, a review, and playbooks

Each account gets one entry per trading day, with its trades under it: a plan before the open, a review after the close. Playbooks turn setups into checklists you tick per trade.

Pre-market plan

Bias, max trades, risk per trade and the plan, beside the account's daily loss left and progress to target. Templates: Pre-market plan, Post-session review, Weekly review and Weekly report card.

Session review

What happened, a session grade from A to F, and whether you followed the plan. Saved before 17:00 CT, it keeps the day's review rule.

Trade review

A half-star rating, tags, mistakes (nine ready to pick, or your own) and how you felt. Unreviewed trades wait in a queue.

Playbooks

A rule checklist in four groups (Context, Entry, Exit and Risk), written by you or started from three templates. On Trader and up, each rule shows its follow rate and your net kept against broken.

Discipline · Starter

Graded at 17:00 CT on the rules you keep, never on money

At 17:00 CT, when the trading day closes, PassTraq checks it against the rules you switched on; six are on to start. A green day can break them. A red day inside every rule is a kept day.

The discipline rules PassTraq grades each trading day on, with their defaults.

A rule that can't be judged that day, such as max trades with nothing planned, leaves the score instead of failing it. Kept days in a row make your streak. Your firm's own limits are tracked live by the prop firm rules tracker.

Analytics, AI, replay, mentors

Journal analytics, your own Claude, and replay

The basics are on Starter, reports on Trader and up, deeper cuts on Pro and up. Every view filters by account, dates, playbook and tag, and can be saved.

Starter

Net P&L, win rate, average R, cumulative and daily P&L, a yearly P&L calendar, and results by symbol, hour and weekday.

Trader and up

Reports by weekday, hour, hold time, size, R, playbook, tag and mistake, and a weekly or monthly recap.

Pro and up

Cross-analysis, compare, exit analysis, the drawdown curve, R distribution and MFE/MAE.

The Analyst · Trader and up

Ask which playbook pays. Answers give n per group and a 95% win-rate range; groups under 5 trades aren't compared, and under 30 trades it is “not a finding”.

Your own Claude · Trader and up

Connect it over the PassTraq MCP connector, no API key. It asks under the same rules and drafts your day's review for you to edit. PassTraq runs no AI model of its own, and no connected app can place an order.

Replay and mentors

On Pro and up, a trade opens in bar replay on your broker's history, in the futures trading platform, and a mentor you invite reads the journal and comments (3 on Pro, unlimited on Quant).

Questions

Trading journal: questions traders ask

Is there a free trading journal for prop firm traders?

Yes. Starter is free forever, no card, no trial: 1 account, journal and playbooks, challenge rules dashboard, CSV import and export, base analytics, payout readiness and report. Reports start on Trader and up ($19 a month). What each plan adds.

Which platforms can I import trades from?

Tradovate, Sierra Chart, NinjaTrader, MetaTrader 4/5, TradeStation and TopstepX, detected from the CSV header. Other exports import when their columns are recognisable.

Does the journal sync with my prop firm automatically?

On Rithmic, yes: Apex Trader Funding and AMP Futures sync today on every plan, and 14 more prop firms connect in beta. Firms such as Topstep and MyFundedFutures import their CSV.

How does the 17:00 CT discipline grade work?

At 17:00 CT the day is checked against the rules you switched on, such as inside the daily loss limit and drawdown below caution. It is kept when every judged rule passed. Money made does not count.

Can I export my trades?

Yes, as CSV, on every plan, Starter included.

Can I ask AI about my trades?

On Trader and up, connect your own Claude over the PassTraq MCP connector, no API key. PassTraq runs no AI model of its own, and no connected app can place an order.

Does the journal include trade replay?

On Pro and up, bar by bar on your own broker's history, so your broker must be connected.

Can a mentor see my trading journal?

Only one you invite, on Pro and up: read-only, with comments on trades and days, never your email, billing or payouts.
