Methodology

PassTraq methodology: where every number comes from.

Every number PassTraq shows has one of three sources, and the screen says which: your broker, read from Rithmic verbatim, with the time it arrived; your own trades, worked out and labelled so; or nothing, shown as “—”. Firm rules come from presets for 23 futures prop firms, checked against each firm’s own documentation on Oct 14, 2026. A rule PassTraq has not verified is refused, never guessed.

Where a number comes from

Three sources, and the label each one wears

Each number carries its source label. A worked-out number says so; an unknown one shows a dash.

Your broker comes first. With your Rithmic login connected on Trader and up, balance, day P&L and drawdown floor are Rithmic's own. Once the broker reports a balance, nothing PassTraq imports or computes may overwrite it.

Otherwise, your trades. Without one, each figure is added up from the trades you import, sync or log, and says so: the Starter path.

Firm rulebooks

How firm rules are kept, checked and dated

Each firm's rules live in one preset, by plan and account size, copied from the firm's own pages. All 23 were last checked on Oct 14, 2026: 21 are held as verified, FTMO Futures and The5ers Futures as approximate.

  • A size without a checked dollar figure reads “Not verified — check the firm’s site”, never an estimate.
  • A rule the firm doesn't publish stays empty. The free tools won't simulate an unknown drawdown model, and the Prop Eval Lab withholds odds without a verified rulebook.
  • A retired plan keeps its rules for the accounts bought under it, and is never offered to a new account.
  • Any other firm works as a custom firm, with your own target, daily loss and max drawdown.

Trailing drawdown

How a trailing drawdown is calculated, one week worked through

The floor is a high-water mark minus the max drawdown, and it never moves down; the model decides which high counts. Of the 67 plans PassTraq models, 52 trail at the end of the day, 7 intraday and 8 are static.

Illustration — an invented week on a $50,000 account, $2,000 max drawdown. Numbers invented; the floors are the Trailing Drawdown Simulator engine’s.

Same five days. The intraday floor rose to $50,000 with day 3's high, so day 4's close at $49,500 broke it. End of day kept $300 of room; static kept $1,500.

Where a firm locks the floor at the starting balance, the Trailing Drawdown Simulator locks it there too.

from your trades: The same week, from a CSV

A CSV holds closed trades, not the highs between them. Through day 4 PassTraq sees a $51,200 peak and $1,700 used: 85%, DANGER, “Drawdown at 85% of maximum — trade with extreme caution”. The intraday firm had already ended the account. With your broker connected on Trader and up, the floor is Rithmic's own.

The other rules

Daily loss, consistency, minimum days and the warnings

Each rule is measured as the firm states it, and every warning uses one set of words and thresholds.

Daily loss limit

Your day's net P&L after commissions, open P&L included, rolling at 17:00 CT. Of the 23 firms' default 50K plans, 7 set one: 6 soft, which pause the day, and 1 hard, which fails the account.

Consistency rule

The Rules HUD sets today's net P&L against the firm's share of the profit target, as an early warning. The Consistency Rule Calculator and payout readiness measure your best day's share of total profit. Neither counts going over as a breach.

Minimum days

Payout readiness counts distinct trading days with a closed trade. The Days to Pass Planner divides the target by your expected day: arithmetic, no probability.

The warnings

One ramp for every meter and alert:

CAUTION 50%DANGER 70%STOP 90%

The dashboard warns “70% of daily loss limit used — consider stopping”, then “Daily loss limit 90% used — stop trading today”.

The trading day

One trading day: 17:00 to 17:00 Chicago

CME futures reopen at 17:00 Chicago time, so PassTraq's trading day runs from 17:00 to 17:00 and takes the date it closes on.

Three trades and the trading day each belongs to

Sun, Oct 18, 23:00 UTCSun 18:00 CTMon, Oct 19

The daily loss meter, the journal's grade and payout readiness all count this day. Eval Autopsy uses a firm's own reset hour where its preset states one.

Each day is graded at 17:00 CT on rules you set, never on money made: 7 rules, 6 on by default, in the trading journal. Dashboard times read UTC and say so.

Statistics

Every statistic carries its sample size

PassTraq prints the sample beside every answer about your trades, and holds back what the sample can't support.

The Analyst

Each group shows its trade count, and each win rate its 95% Wilson range: 12 wins in 20 reads 60%, range 39% to 78%. Groups under 5 trades are never compared; under 30 trades the answer says it is not a finding.

Trader and up

The Prop Eval Lab

It walks your backtest through a firm's rulebook, then reshuffles the same trades into 1,000 seeded evaluations, so a run repeats exactly. Its two notes:

Withheld: 8 trades is too few to resample (at least 10).

Resampled from 60 trades over 20 trading days. One stretch of one market — a sketch, not a forecast.

Pro and up

Market data

Only real market data, from your own feed

Nothing on a chart or in the DOM is filled in or made up.

  • PassTraq doesn't sell market data. Plans are market-data neutral: charts, the DOM, replay and backtests run on your own broker or Rithmic login.
  • A quiet market is not a dead feed; the order ticket tells them apart.
  • With no order book from your broker, the DOM says so instead of drawing one. A gap after a disconnect is filled from your broker's history.
  • Backtests and the charts on your trades take bars from your own login only. Anything else is refused: “These bars did not come from this account's own broker feed — refused.”

Payouts

Payout readiness, against the terms you enter

PassTraq ships no funded-account rulebook, so readiness is measured against the payout terms you type in from your firm. A term left empty is measured, with no verdict.

Limits

What PassTraq will not do

  • Guess. When a value is unknown, PassTraq shows "—" instead of inventing one.
  • Promise a pass. PassTraq can't pass a challenge for you, and it guarantees nothing.
  • Place an order for you. Every order is a click. No keyboard shortcut places an order, and no AI can.
  • Run a model of its own. PassTraq runs no AI model of its own.

Questions

Methodology: questions traders ask

How is a prop firm trailing drawdown calculated?

The floor is your high-water mark minus the max drawdown, and it never moves down. Intraday trailing follows your equity high, open profit included; end-of-day trailing moves once a day, off the close; static never moves. One week under all three.

How does PassTraq calculate the drawdown you have left?

With your Rithmic login connected on Trader and up: your equity minus Rithmic’s own liquidation floor, labelled Rithmic. Otherwise PassTraq works the floor out from your account’s limits and highest balance, and labels it PassTraq rules.

How does PassTraq calculate the consistency rule?

The Rules HUD sets today’s net P&L against the firm’s percentage of the profit target, as an early warning. The Consistency Rule Calculator and payout readiness measure your best day’s share of total profit. Neither counts it as a breach.

Where do PassTraq’s prop firm rules come from?

From each firm’s own published rules, one preset per firm by plan and account size, all checked on Oct 14, 2026. FTMO Futures and The5ers Futures are held as approximate. Confirm current terms with your firm.

Why does PassTraq show a dash instead of a number?

When a value is unknown, PassTraq shows "—" instead of inventing one. A firm’s max contracts and a trade’s R with no stop on record are two examples.

When does the trading day start in PassTraq?

At 17:00 Chicago time, when CME futures reopen. A trade at 18:00 CT on Tuesday counts for Wednesday.

Are PassTraq’s pass odds a prediction?

No. The Prop Eval Lab reshuffles your own backtest’s trades with a fixed seed, withholds odds under 10 trades and prints the sample beside every result. The odds repeat your sample back; they are not a forecast.
